Granulated Fish Food

Hi guys,

I went to the lfs to pick up some new fish and the guy gave me 2 packs of granulated food. I've always used flakes so I'm wondering if there's any difference? It's rather large and its too hard for me to crush like I do with flakes so I worry if I feed them that, they won't be able to consume 'em.

Not really. I'd say they look like bread crumbs but slightly bigger

I find they sometimes breakdown in the water, just pre soak them if you want

I would get two tea spoons and place the food in the middle and crush them like that. (by place the teaspoons on top of each other)

Put some in a bit of water and see how long they take to soften. I feed some food like this, it's not too dissimilar from pellets really. Shouldn't need to crush them, fish will just peck/suck at them.

Sounds similar to Tetra Prima. Very good product and allows other fish that don't feed from the surface a chance of some food.

Yep that's what it says on the pack - for fish that prefer feeding at mid range of the tank. Thanks guys, will try throwing some into the tank now and see how they like it.

It sinks quite fast and my fish sometimes don't see it. I tried giving them flakes but they seem to be to shy to go to the surface (i just got them yesterday).

Should I just continue with the granulated fish food and see how it goes? I worry they're not eating cause I hardly see them do so. Even if they do, they spit it the food out
