Got The Sand!

Just rinsing it down a few times in a bucket inbetween typing this! ... now the hard part begins of catching all my fish and putting them in my 20L temporarily... hopefully i can get the gravel out quickly whilst full of water

are you keeping the water in there, and taking the gravel out? i wouldnt advise that personally - i did the same a few weeks ago, and there was so much waste underneath it was unreal (even tough i did a thorough gravel clean once a week). I emptied a big bucketful of water and put the fish in it, syphoned the water out, took the gravel out, sprayed it down outside, put in the pre-rinsed sand, then put a dinnerplate on the sand and threw fresh dechlorinated water in, put the filters and thermometer back on, then put the fish back in.

I have no where to put the water so unfortunately, yes...

But, i'm going to put the sand in bags then carefully undo the bags under the water

im confused where do you empty your dirty water then? i assume you have a plughole? a bucket?

125 litres of water wont fit in a 12 litre bucket

I'm confused, I thought I had to keep as much tank water as possible? Otherwise just putting fish in tap water with no filtration?

yes you do! lol keep as much as possible, just keep the water in there, take out as much as possible (but save it)!

I did mine while I had water in the tank, went very black, but then after a large water change the colour returned nice and clear the next day. If you need help, that post of mine i sent in your last topic shows how far I took my water down too.

Gravel emptied, nice brown water

Going to empty half and do a 50% water change to clear it before adding sand

First bucket of sand now in all going well and water clearing quickly... just cleaning second buckets worth now.

I'll have to hoover the seated poop once it all settles down.

All sand in, not bad I don't think (time wise).. just waiting for water to clear a bit then the fish will be returning to a nice looking new home

So, done a few buckets of water change, tank is a bit clearer but still mildly cloudy with a few bits floating about, is it ok to put the fish back in whilst it's like this?
