collected my 4ft tank last night, ive now added 20% f the water from my 3ft and the rest fresh with same filter, water temp is 24c rocks and plants in, water is cloudy possibly from gravel etc when getting filed up..is it safe to add my fish int it now?

If you are moving the filter over from their present home, it should be a fine time to move the fish.

but don;t forget that patience is a virtue when starting a new tank. I;m as guilty as the next man of getting too excited and adding fish but long term you will benefit from doing it slooooooooooooooooooooooooow :good:

Good luck and don;t forget pics!!

didn;t realise that so should be fine and yes I always leave the light off in situations like that

good luck!!

Did it comes with the donator's fish in the end?

Good luck of a great find!

well i was watching a dvd in bed with the missus on sat night, only to hear the sound of dripping water, thinking it was just rain outside.....NO went down stairs into living room and water everywhere big crack on the back of my new free 4ft tank, crack wasnt there when i got it, so after panic buttons mnaged to save all the fish and put back in my 3ft, absolutely gutted

Devastating. My guess is the crack was there, thus why it was free. Sorry to hear that mate, hopefully there isnt too much damage and atleast by the sounds of it you still have your livestock right.

saved all my fish..thank god, wallpaper in sitting room got a good soak as did my new couch but it could of been worse good job i heard it when i did or in the morning my fish would be dead

So sorry to hear about your tank omese. Sometimes big tanks like that will "settle" over the days following filling and throw themselves off-balance just enough to crack or make an existing tiny crack become serious.

Blimey, so lucky you were in to hear the crisis and you had simply moved your current fish from one tank to another, so you had the smaller tank available to put them back!

i bought some sealer stuff from ebay that they use on boats etc is it worth me trying to seal/fix tank with it or not..am absolutely gutted any advice on sealing it or not would be great
