@HoldenOn I'm sure you know this but it takes a few days for new fish to settle in and blacking out the back and sides is really a good idea. I think it reduces stress.
Ofc. I had some on the back, but none on the sides because previous occupants were corydoras and they like to play with their reflections lol.
 
I would also lower the lights, most tetras like shade and floating plants, I just picked up some frog bite and hope to replace what is left of my salvania in my tetra tank. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new shoal of tetras. Good luck
