Not been in all day due to my grandads funeral today. Was a beautiful day filled with tears, but he will have the final send off when we scatter his ashes at sea. He was in the navy and always said he wanted this, so its something i promised him i would do.

due to an early start this morning, i didnt get to feed any of the fish. Just gone to feed the 5ft tank and i pooped myself. I lifted the lid and say what looked like a honeycomb on the underside of the lid. Instantly thought that it was a bee's nest (stoopid i know!). I looked closer and its baby golden apple snails!! WINNER OR WHAT!!

I dont have a bloody clue what to do with them, but i assume they dont need to be in water as they were laid out of it. So i have rested them on the top of one of my magnets in the cory hatchery tank and would assume they will find their own way into the tank ??

Just make sure the eggs are kept moist, but not dripping wet. Usually when they're left in the hood of the tank the condensation etc will keep them moist.

APPLESNAIL.NET is a fantastic resiource for snails, and this article I linked you is specifically on reproduction.

Basically, "mystery snails" (brigs) lay the eggs out of water. They need to stay slightly moist, but never be submerged. (In the future, if the location is convenient, youcan just leave them on the tank lid.) If they go underwater, the embryos will drown. They generally hatch in 10-14 days, and yes, the young find their way into the water just fine.

You want to make sure there is abundant food for them--sinking algae wafers work well. They won't travel far at first, so they can easily starve to death if left to scavenge. Make sure you feed them, not just leave them leftovers. I also recommend using "weekend feeder" blocks for young snails in particular. The white stuff the food is imbedded in is pure calcium, so it's a great source for them to get some extra calcium to boost their growth and strengthen their shells.

Good luck and have fun! Brigs are a blast to breed and raise. I hope it goes well for you!
