Gold Severum

Would a gold severum be ok with my current setup (See signature for stocklist)?

tank size is perfect . i would re-home the neons tho and the smaller barbs. not due to agression but once the sev grows they will just be snack sized. i have succesfully kept sevs with tiger barbs tho .i see no problems with the gourami as unless you get a bad one sevs as a rule tend to be pretty laid back chaps.

Right got the severum in, and all seems fine, suggestions as to whether I should get some sort of cave for him? I have some hideaways in the tank, but should I get something specific for him?

Yes you should give him some shelter. Mine likes to hide around wood All my fish do. It helps them feel safe and helps keep the stress down.

You could use rocks or wood to make a little hide out or safe place for him to go to. Watch out severums are addictive.

He seems happy at the moment, just pottering about his new home Will defo get some bogwood, plants wise need to go for varities that require no Co2 etc, been told java moss and or arubias?

I have never used co2 and just the standard lighting! I have had 3 lots of these plants and have been really happy with them! Always has vallis cambomba and amazon swowds in! and hair grass!

DISASTER!! The Sev I have just put in the tank has, overnight eaten all 10 of my neons, I was thinking of moving them at the weekend or so, but now its too late. What I need to know is will he now eat any of the other fish I have left?, I am going to move the cherry barbs.

What size did you get

Obviously not a 2" juvi....if growing up in a tank there is a far far greater chance that the existing fish would have been okay even when it is full grown but I guess you went for something a little big in the first place?

I brought him off a member from this forum, will get pics up as soon as I can, are the corys, gourami and golden barbs safe though?
