Hi all i have two tanks witch i am seeing two at this time. only problem is that i want to no is that i get a lot of condensation from inside the tank. spashing onto my hood. my tanks are 6x2x2 and 7x2x2. would i get away with using glass or perspex on runners or using lids of plasic boxes. put them in a row across inside the tank so stop watering from forming on the inside of the hood
I not got around to seting up my lighting would the heat from the t5 causes the perspex to sag after and also discolour

I think that I would use glass instead Dave. Most of my tanks have a glass sheet of some kind to keep the water from getting to the lighting system. The ones with home made hoods, yes I do that too, have a hinged piece of glass that completely covers the water surface then I put the hood on top holding the light fixture and with vent holes to remove any heat or remaining moisture.

agree with oldman47
ive had a perspex top on one of my tanks before, and it eventualy lost most of its clarity and blocked light,
glass lids are the way to go...
