Funny Fish

Good morning

As a few of you know i'm new in keeping fish and just wanted to share this every time I walk up to my fish tank all the 8 fish go to one corner of the top of the tank where i feed them, they do this every time? do fish know if they want to be feed and do they recognise you, your the person the feeds them? just thought it's funny when all the fish do this lol like little puppies waiting to be feed. Anyones else's fish do this? or am i under feeding I feed them twice a day.

Yea... the fish instincts tells them that you are the source of food and they also know in which corner the food will appear.... This forms part of the advice I always give to new aquarists... "Do not believe them" Stick to your feeding routine, because if you add more food everytime they "ask" for food... your water will foul and you loose a lot of fish.

Yep. Most fish are inherently just eating machines. The majority of their efforts and behaviours are based upon getting grub. Once humans become the source of that food, then most fish (once they get over any timidity) quickly learn to anticipate food being put into their environment in the normal place when they see a human approach the tank. As Ludwig says, it is our duty not to give in to feeding them as much as they want. Only as much as they need !

Definitely not underfeeding - my fish are lucky if they get fed on consecutive days!

Thank's I was thinking of feeding them more times as they looking thought the glass of tank and feel like i should give them more but thought no as i give them feeds in the mornings and evenings but had to admit dropping the pea chopped up in before bed, will that be ok as i only do this twice a week with the veg.
