I also use these plastic spheres. They float and will provide good hiding spots for those fry. IMG_3771.JPGIMG_3772.JPG

These are available at most garden centers in several sizes. And they hardly cost something. And they're easy to clean. And yes, they're hollow. They are actually meant for home decoration. But they work perfectly as a hiding spot.

I don't know, they're kinda sharp. When I touch them they're pointy.
One kind of sphere does look sharp, because of the pointy leafs. But they're actually quite soft. I had no problems thusfar. And I'm using them already for years in certain tanks.
i think fry are too small to be poked by those
True but they're actually really soft.
