I have heard from word of mouth about a body of water around my home that has freshwater isopods in it, I'm thinking of catching a few and putting them in their own tank. There doesn't seem to be any information on keeping freshwater isopods as a pet, has anyone done so?

google marine isopods & amphipods or gammarids

They are all general scavengers that eat dead plant or animal products. They will live on rotting aquarium plants and fish food. If there is nothing else to eat they will eat live plants but they don't do much damage.
