Found Snail!

Hello again everybody! I was out on a trip and have finally returned. Anyways this morning I look into my 10 gallon fish tank and see a little tiny snail! I thought it was a pond snail because I do not have any other snails in my tank hat could've caused this. It was on the glass eating algae but I plucked it off and took it out of my tank (dead if you have not figured that out xD). I am pretty sure I did the right thing because I relatively just added a bunch of plants and I wouldn't want a outbreak of pond snails ruining everything xD! I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I added the plants and there seemed to be just one. I am keeping an eye out for more though. Did I do the right thing by ending its life?

Most of us kill them when we find them. If you put the remains back in the tank, most fish will go nuts for them!

dont do that if you see them remove them, if you squash them you release all the eggs they are carrying and if they hatch then its a nightmare and they will fill your tank. i had this problem and i always squahed them then ended up spending everyday pulling out 30 snails until none were left.

I keep them in my tank, as when there is an overpopulation of the then you know that your over feeding. So I just keep a couple and when I see a more of them just suddenly appear then I cut down on feeding

Large numbers of them suggest you're overfeeding. I always squish them then give the remains to my fish and haven't had any problems with overpopulation.

Well i dunno i know i cut right back on feeding when i had them as was suggested to me but it did nothing the only way i found worked was to just remove the ones from the glass first thing when i turned the light on. but maybe overfeeding contributed in the run up you never know.cheers
