Hi guys, had a LED fixture made by PS3Steveo for my Fluval Edge but I got told by the guy in the store that the glass on the top of the fluval edge will stop me getting high light plants, is there anything to this or is he misinformed?

Thanks
Tek oot.

I'm not even sure what he would mean by that...

Is the Edge a funny shape? How are the lights positioned in relation to the tank?

The edge has glass on top too.

The problem with the edge is getting enough light into it through the hole provided, that and gas transfer is more limited which makes CO2 more of a challenge.

For size though they do lend themselves to liquid carbon set ups and that's probably the way I'd go. Carefully scaped there's no reason why you can't grow the higher tech stuff, just have fun pruning any fast growth......

Does the light have to go in through the hole? Can't the LED fixture just sit on top?

I have a fluval edve with plant growth, just don't fill it to the square rim leave a little room at the top.

you can see min in the middle of the picture

OK thanks guys, that's all I needed to know, thanks for posting that link too Ninjouzata.

There's plenty of LEDs that are submersible, couldn't that be a solution for some of your more light hungry plants?

Nah it'll be fine, the LED's that PS3Steveo sells are fantastic so they'll be fine.
