Side note. When using the pump be very careful and pump straight up and down. The pump materials in my opinion are very delicate and prone to breakage, I would say it is a weak point to the Fluval filters.
Right now I have three seeming to be operating okay. I have one 307 that I got running fine. Went back in about 20 to 25 minutes and it had stopped flow from output . The 407 I cant get running except for weak flow at output. Lines have a dip which is gradual and exactly like the other that are operating. The canister sounds fine no rattle or anything . This is turning into the largest lost investment of close to one thousand dollars and when my HOBs die I am probably retiring from it all together . Being 83 and other health problems with my spouse frankly don't need this. Thanks for putting up with my rants but Mr. Fluval has my money so at least they are happy.I don't bother shutting down the valve, I let air into the canister, I will pump it a few times once the water level is higher in the tank to get the water level to the drive portion of the canister, after that it blows some bubbles out but then starts full flow. It almost sounds like you have something like a vapour lock on one of your lines leading to or going from the canister that is blocking flow or you have air trapped in the canister head preventing full flow. The behavior you describe really sounds like the lines have a dip in them, which traps the air in the canister. What does the filter sound like when you start it and after it runs for a while.
