You could also try large food containers. My betta lives in a big almost 3 gallon jug that use to cotain "cheese balls"
it costs $4 and a heater costs $6. I find this is the cheapist way to do it if you can find the right container. You my just have to put a little effort into getting the stickers off

Even better, it only cost me 6$, bought some plastic mesh to cover it and a bulb or two from walmart, whole thing ended up being 12$ or less. If you have a tape measurer, like the kind used when making clothes, take that with you to measure.
