Fliter Bacteria

i am filling my tank tomorrow have got a mature eheim pro2 coming on saturday which i am going to hook up straight away . ordered my heaters last night. my question is if the heaters dont come before saturday will running the filter on an unheated tank kill the bacteria?

i think the only answer would be that it depends how cold the water gets

how cold would you say was too cold? after all people have coldwater setups with filters . just askin as i really dont want to have to cycle it . really cant be borthered lol

very unlikely, the colony will grow much more slowly is all.

Your bacteria will be fine, unless the tank is in a freezer, don't worry.

well tank is being filled tomorrow so will have 3 days to get up to room temp . so i guess as long as its properly dechlorinated it should be ok

If you are adding a dechlorinater to the water it works instantly anyway.

great stuff . is it best to ad dechlorinator bit by bit during filling or all in 1 go aftewrwards , never set up a tank from scratch myself. when i do water changes i use a bucket and dechlorinate in the bucket before pouring it into tank

Just do it all at once once you have filled the tank. quick stir and hey presto all will be OK.
