Flame Tetra Looking Ill

Well I added the med last night. The sick fish has bursts of energy today but is alternating them with lying on the gravel. He did manage to eat a flake earlier when I fed them but it's not looking good

Ok.
Keep us updated if you don't mind.

Just a quick update/problem.....

The tetra is still hanging on in there but my 3/4 black guppy has just died. It wasn't showing any signs of illness at all, was active, not faded or thin, no flicking or anything but i've just found him upside down in one of the plants

Edit - Just seen one of the balloon mollie fry in there looking like it's about to die any minute

R.I.P.

You are only meant to half dose with fry. But if you half dose with the internal parasite med won't work.
The fry really needed issolating and using half dose.

How are the rest of the fish acting.

It did say that it was ok with fry as long as they were older than a few day and they were about 2 months old so I thought it would be ok

The really ill tetra is now pretty much always swimming on his side. I haven't noticed an improvement in him at all

Ok. That's fine then.

Fingrs crossed for the tetra.

Thanks Wilder. He does seem to be swimming off the bottom a lot more now but he still don't look good. I am keeping my fingers crossed for him

I think it's best I end his suffering he can't right himself at all now and his spine is almost S-shaped. And it looks like his scales are starting to lift even tho he's not bloated in any way. :-(

It also looks like another one of the tetra is starting to lose his balance too. I really don't know what to do now

Edit - Yup definately another one swimming on his side, looks like whatever was affecting the last tetra is getting this one too

You can start to lose quite alot of fish before things start to settle down again.
I'm so sorry it's awful. I've had my share of sick fish.

Wear latex gloves if you have cuts on your hands before putting hand in tank water.

You could have fish tb in your tanks.

sorry wrong thread.

Don't say that Wilder I have a cough as it is!!! Lol

Surely tho if it was TB it wouldn't just be the tetra that were showing symptoms?

Fish tb not the same as human tb, it dosn't affect the lungs.
it more to do with cuts that won't heal, rashes, lumps.

Yes I would expect to see more ill fish if it was fish tb.
Just warning you that's all to protect yourself, as we can't rule it out at this point yet.

Yeah I know I looked it up when you suggested it might be fish TB it's just coincidence I have a chest infection.
I appreciate the warning too.

Just a thought is there any chance it could be neon tetra or false neon tetra disease? I don't know a lot about it but just a thought cos it's the tetra that are affected at the moment

Signs of ntd are.
The red stripe area will look bleached out. Or a milky substance on the red stripe area.
The blue area can look yellowish.
Black linning around the red tail area.
Lumps that go to a point in the tummy area.
Fish will become restless and leave the shoal.
Bent spine.
Dropsy, popeye.
Fish will swim in a odd way.
Thinness.
Finrot I think.
