Flame Tetra Looking Ill

Is it any type of tetra that can catch it or is it specific to neons? Sorry I know that's probably a dumb question but a lot of those symptoms match what's going on with my flames

It can affect other types of tetra's. Cardinals tetra should be ok.
I also lost black neons when my tank had ntd.

Best to destroy all the fish showing symtoms. It's a nightmare to be honest.

As odd as it sounds I hope that's the cause cos otherwise we're looking at TB and I really don't want it to be that.

Though i've read the article you've linked to and it says that the rasboras should be prone to it too but so far they are looking ok.....so fingers crossed they will stay that way.

Do you know how long it's likely to stay in the tank after the last infected fish goes?

Not sure now forgotten. It could be months.
It took my fish over a month to all die of ntd.
Then I striped the tank down and steralised everything.

If you have other tanks you must steralise your equipemnt like nets, and buckets, after use.

Yeah I will be careful, hopefully it hasn't got into my dad's tank cos he's been using my gravel vac. Guess I won't be replacing any fish any time soon lol.

Obviously if all my fish die then i'll strip the tank down and start again but if the remaining guppies and rasboras don't get whatever it is should i just leave the tank as it is and just wait a few months before restocking?

If some fish survive just wait two months.
Let me know how you get on if you don't mind.
Good Luck.

Thanks.

Sometimes it can take a while to find the problem.
Once you know what wrong it's easy to just get on with it. It's the not knowing which is annoying, as you feel helpless.

Good Luck.

Well I've lost another tetra, went to bed a few nights ago and he looked awful so i decided to put him out of his misery in the morning and come morning he'd vanished completely so I guess he died and got eaten, which can't be good. Most of the tetra are now swimming with their tails up more than their heads so I'm guessing i'm gonna lose them.

One of the guppies is struggling to swim and is resting on the gravel a lot. Not looking good.

Yet still all the harlequins are looking healthy

This is not going to sound nice.. But I would put all the sick fish out of there misery.
So you can concentrate on the healthy ones.

Yeah i've just done a water change now so i'll see if there's any improvement tomorrow, if not i'll do the humane thing.

During the water change i took all the plants and ornaments out and pruned and cleaned them and i found the black balloon molly fry i thought had died. He's not looking too healthy tho which is sad cos my mother has gotten attached to him. He had so much personality

Bless him. I know how you feel.

It just that the sick fish don't really stand a chance of making it. The longer there left in the tank the healthy onces are at risk.

Well i've euthanised another sick tetra and the last red/black guppy but now it looks like one of the harlequins that have previously resisted whatever this is has gone pale/washed out. I really am starting to think I might lose the whole tank :-(

Sadly it happens.
You can lose quite alot of fish or the lot. Till things run there course and settle down again.

Let me know how you get on if you don't mind.
Fish keeping not always pleasant.
Good Luck.

I am gonna fish out another tetra when it comes out of hiding cos it too looks really thin and sickly. I dunno whether it would be best to euthanise the one remaining tetra along with him but he looks healthy at the moment but in all honest i doubt i will ever get flames again plus the LFS doesn't always have them. Will he be ok on his own? I don't want to kill a healthy fish but i don't want him to have a miserable existance
