I had been having water troubles, fish dying, algae problems everything. i finally have gotten the water right, algae under control, and rearranged my tank!the 2 first fish that i got 2 months ago have survived everything and i am so happy! I am going to purchase 1 female platy, 2 female guppies, and 1 male guppy. I can't wait!
i can't post the pic as teh computer won't let me, but i updated my avatar to the fixed up tank.

if you want to breed guppies then get lots of females. If you want colour get males only. One male will chase two females around the tank and stress them out a bit. The more females the less tress each one will have. Better still just keep males or females. The same issue applies to platies, swordtails & mollies.

Female guppies are just about always pregnant when you buy them.

Hiya!

Well done on sorting your tank out! All your hard work has paid off!
As Colin said you may want to go for all males for colour unless you want babies then I find the 3 Females to every male works well.

Ok. i think ill get three females and one male. i used to have 1 male platy 2 femles before the water problem and they were fine. i think 3 to 1 applies to guppies only. im ready for all the fry! i had bougth guppies while i ahd the water problem( this was before i knew i had a water problem) and they were pregnant. but they died. that was when i found out i had a water problem. i have a breeder net to keep the pregnant female in. i will try to pick not so far on guppies. i think im bit by the livebearer bug!. i obsessed with platies and guppies!
by the way, should i add one more plant right in the middle?
