Nope ! eventually someone will run away so you don't actually kill them.

And you can fight them again after conditioning.

They only die if you don't cure the wounds (if they have)

Nice bettas, have you ever had one die from wounds that it received while fighting?

Bettas are pretty much really stubborn fish. You could see the fight as a pecking order fight. After one knows that they won't win, they swim away. The winner will keep harassing the loser until he eventually dies. Our job is to take out the betta after there is a clear winner, so no betta gets killed. I'm sure someone has lost a betta in a battle, but I've read that they are usually cured and then used to fight again.

Awesome fighters Cracker

How many fights have you fought with each of them? and how many have they won/lost?

DD

Nope I never had one. I cure them right after the fight.

I've been fighting Bettas since I was 11.

I don't keep the loser Bettas, I free them in the river after curing them.

The winners will get a price of having a female partner and becomes a breeder so all of the Bettas I breed are winning lines :D.

:D id loose so i could go free

Cracker, those fighters are fantastic looking. I believe that they don't loose. That red CT looks just like my Loge.

Where are you from? May be a silly question.

I think that your an example of a really responsible person. You obviously care for your fish and they look great.

I am really impressed with how this forum is handling this thread. Instead of being agressive and flaming, it's been responsibly handled and people are respecting each other's opinions.

I would love to hear the details of the fight. I wish you luck on the 18th. Which one of your fighters is going to fight that day? I wish other animals who were fought were treated with as much respect and dignity. But sadly, this is not the case.

So you just...let them free? In a river? Where do you live? Isn't that like....illegal?

- Sure I'll keep you posted about the Betta fight on the 18th. My fighter is not on the pic I'm keeping him in a very dark place and only feed him every other day with Mosquito Larvae and his water is very dark because of the Ketapanag leaves and can't take a picture of him yet it might stress him out.

- Nope this is not illegal here. As a matter of fact this small project of mine is highly recommended by our locals since youngsters will keep the river clean because they know that I'm throwing some fish there and in the future they can catch these Bettas and keep them as a pet or as a fighter in this regard they don't have to buy or import Betta fighters anymore :D

I wish I could go outside and pick a betta out of the creek... that would be so awesome! :hey:

Beautiful fighters, I've been looking into buying a few true fighters just so I can observe their habits compaired to our frilly girlyman plakats.

I'm not against traditional betta fighting as long as it's done the proper way and the history and culture of the fish is respected. And in this case it sounds like it is in every possible way

im looking at your fish and i see perfect fish, no fins ripped or anything. so it looks like you've been doing a great job. they look a lot better than a lot of bettas you see in walmart. i wish you luck in your next fight (haha that sounds so funny) and i hope everboddys betta survives

I've got a friend in Thailand and he's a hard core Betta fighter/breeder. I can introduce you to him if you wanted to get some Bettas.

BTW He's a license broker/importer of aquatic animals so not only Bettas :D
