This thread is where I will post some of my adventures in exploring music...from old time rock and roll, blues and other genres from famous artists to bands discovered on YouTube.
So hop on the musical roller coaster, strap yourself in, hang on tight, and enjoy the ride.

I will start with an all girl band that I discovered on YouTube. The members have amazing voices and the dueling guitars are outstanding. The woman in blue is Orianthi who has gone on to play with Carlos Santana and her own band. She even played for practice sets with Michael Jackson for his planned comeback concert that unfortunately never happened due to Jackson's untimely death. She also does a cover for Stevie Ray Vaughn which is just incredible which I will feature in a followup post.
Here is the all girl band playing Gimme Shelter. The blond girl with the pigtails knocks it out of the park with her rendition so similar to Merry Clayton.

As often happens on my football weekends, I'll have to watch & listen tomorrow. Just from the pic instead of "School of Rock" or even Schoolhouse Rock, I might call them Blonds School of Rock. JK, they sound like my kind of band!

Before I move on, here is one more song by that all girl band. The lead sure has a lot of spunk, an awesome voice and all the dance moves.

Here is an awesome rendition of Mustang Sally. The horns are really good here and the singer is not too shabby either.

Orianthi, who played in the first video above, plays here with Billy Gibbons.
Outstanding.....just awesome!

This should be interesting. There's a lot of talented people out there doing some pretty amazing covers. (If you like Tool check out the O'keefe Foundation...I don't know how old the little girl is but she absolutely NAILS 46 &2)

Uptown Funk is stuck in my head now.

In these times of high prices and high inflation, we all have to be careful with our money. We need to cut expenses wherever we can. The following song by the Kinks from 1979 is a reminder that prices are high and we need to budget our money. I've sung this song at karaoke bars and it's always a hit. (vocals start at 1:33)

I love those kids at O'Keefe. All the Tool stuff is good as is RATM, Rammstein, and Bloodletting by Concrete Blonde.

Finale performance of Sam & Dave's "Hold On, I'm Comin'" featuring the illustrious Sam Moore and Isaac Hayes and Jewel at the 2002 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Steve Cropper of Blue Brothers Band fame who, with Otis Redding, wrote Sittin on the Dock of the Bay is on guitar.

Geez, we made it through the 1st or 2nd "play it on" songs. So many good versions of many we know & love. We didn't make through the later stuff but we will, maybe tomorrow. Basketball & dinner cooking went better with dancing 👍

I feel like musically, we could be on the edge of something. Sure, there are cover bands and revival bands galore, but we should be seeing another interesting alternative scene based on rock somewhere soon... or this could be like those people who wait for the second coming, with guitars.

I predict a reaction against AI producing something raw and interesting. Like most of my predictions, this one should be wrong.

School of Rock band plays the song Dangerous
This get better and better as the song goes progresses The solo by the guitaris starting at 3:55 t is sensational.

Another spectular song by this phenomenal young band. Here they play Hazy Shade of Winter. Simon and Garfunkel originally recorded this song.
