Am about to set up my first tank  . I have got the tank (20 gallon Juwel tank) and a source of pure ammonia and a good LFS for plants etc. Having read the articles on fishless cycling has anyone got any further advice, such as increasing the temp to 84 degrees while cycling that i read somewhere.

Thanks in advance

Increasing the temperature can speed up the growth of the beneficial bacteria, so that's a good idea. Just be careful if you've got plants in there as some plants don't like really high temperatures (84F isn't really high, however).

As your LFS is quite good, maybe you could beg some used filter floss of them? Some LFS's actually do it as part of the deal when you buy fish (you get the floss in advance, of course).
