Fish Selection

Ah cool glad I can help :)

Hoplos are great and will really fill out the middle/bottom of the tank - going for honeys over pearl gourami is good in this sense as well and if your not getting the platties or guppies then that makes a really nice balance :)

For mid/upper schoolers has to be dwarf neon rainbow fish. I have Lemon Tetras in my tank and I really like them but the other ones I was thinking of were Emperor Tetras and Flame Tetras but stay away with neons and similar shaped ones as Angels do eat them.

Great, so the wish list so far

2 Angel
3 Honey Gouramis
10 Corys
3 Hoplo Catfish
and a school of Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish (how many would you suggest?)

Should i still get the Danios with the above list or would this be too much?
And would the above list be fully stocking a 260L tank or would it leave room to add in the future?

Thanx again for your much needed help

Go for 6 Dwarf Neon Rainbows and then you might have room for something else in a while but stocking to this point will take a few months really - I know its exciting to get fish but take it slow :)

Sorry to point this out but IMO the Honey Gourami are a bad idea. They get much smaller than Angelfish and are much more shy and peaceful. So chances are, the Angel will bully the Gouramis to death. I'd go with a species that could stand up to angelfish...Pearl Gourami...or my favourite species...the Snakeskin Gourami :good:
Also I'd either get a single Angel or 6 youngsters and wait till they pair up. If you get 2 , don't be surprised if they attack eath other...Angels are pretty much impossible to sex in shops and you may get 2 males :oh: Or they may not be pairs, and they will clash.

Thanx for the good advice. Pearl Gouramis look nice and are a good size and i have no problem stocking these instead of the Honey Gouarmis. Infact i think i prefer the pearls to the honeys.

TBH i didnt realise Angels pair like this. I had 2 angels before and they followed each other about straight away so they must of been pairs, i just assumed this was normal behaviour, like schooling fish.
I must of just got lucky with them.

The place near me that sell Angels have alot in one tank. Would it not be possible to watch and observe them and try and find a pair? I have no problem buying 6 youngsters and waiting for them to pair, i just know il have a hard time trying to rehome the other 4 as i dont really know anyone who keeps tropical fish.
Not sure if the shop would take em back either!

Just saying, I suggested to start with a group of angels first and also suggested pearls first.... just saying :/

Good call on the Snakeskins though :)

You did indeed and lets not forget it was also your idea to stock with Hoplos which im very excited about, and its thanx to both of u that i now feel alot more confident in my stock list!
Im going to take both of your advice on the pearls, as for the angels im still undecided. I really want to have a pair of angels but am worried if i get 6 to start with, i will struggle to find homes for the other 4 when the time comes.
Im hoping there will be a obvious pair at the store when i go to buy them.
Is there any chance of having 6 Angels without any agreesion towards each other??

At my local Pets At Home they have a big tank with 3 Huge angels in. There isnt an obvious pair and they seem fine with each other?
