Fish Identification

Hi,
I have recently purchased this fish, as a shoal of six but I confess to having forgotten the name, does anyone know what fish it is? Picture posted below.

Would they be compatible with Discus fish?

No, not in my opinion.
Discus like warm, slow moving water while denison barbs like fast flowing, cooler water.

I agree with essjay, absolutely.  Among soft water fish, you couldn't find two species that are such opposites in almost every aspect.
 
You might want to add a couple to the group, as most sources recommend a minimum of 8 to keep interspecies aggression minimal.  But remember this fish attains six inches, and needs swimming space, so at least a 4-foot tank.  You can read more data here:
