Fish Colours

Why do my fish change colour? Some of them seem black one minute then a light shade of purple the next? does this mean they are stressed? i have african cichlids and it just sems weird how one min they are one and then the next another. Sometimes they change if they are chasing or being chased!

Just curious to know why. And also with my Yellow Labs how do you go about bringing out a clean yellow colour? at the moment they are quite young but the yellow seems dirty if yo know what i mean. its like a dirty yellow with dark bits. Imagine a chimney sweep but just not as dirty lol

the colour your fish, seem, to be. is a result of light de-fraction, through its slime coat. so changes in that, can cause a change in shade. it can also be a sign of stress. i have a Rainbow chiclid, that is known to change its colour, just to placate bigger fish in the tank.

My Bolivian Rams change color at will - either during stress (tank cleaning), or at night. In the dark they change their color pattern to more camouflage with a lot of dark striping. During the day they have more gold and pink.

Can't help you with the fish color, but as for your dogs, that I can help with. Giving them a bath with dog shampoo once a week is a good idea to keep their coat looking good. Please make sure it is dog shampoo. People shampoo will dry out their skin. You can also look into what type of food you are feeding them. A good nutritional intake is needed for dogs to maintain a shiny coat. I have seen a difference in mine just from switching from Purina Pro Plan down to regular Purina (Had to make a budget cut). There are probably some other ways as well such as brushing. That should get you started though and don't forget about the millions of opinions posted onto the internet that can be found through www.google.com.

You do get dogs when you type yellow labs in google but this time its definately fish as much as i would love a dog! sadly the gf is allergic and the flat is tooooo small

Advise is always good to store away so not wasted at all! Never know when it can come in handy!

don't think anybody was laughing at you, well I didnt. just pointing out your error was all.

I did very much the same thing, when somebody mentioned keeping Blue Dolphins, many years ago.

They can change colour according to their moods. My German Blue rams would go black if they were stressed or if they fell out with each other!

When we had spaniels we use dto feed tuna in oil once a week. The oil was supposed to be good for their coats. Daily brushing also helps to keep their coats in good condition

Yes and if you want your car to look nice and shiny then get your car wax out and start polishing! Top tip!



Seriously though, my barbs also go pale when stressed. My sajica was almost white when I first got them home. The journey home was, let say, a bit bumpy!
