Finding It Very Hard Not To Buy Fish Again...

How tempting is that... 2.50 for Cacatoiudes, Hongsloi or Macmasteri...... Looks like you're getting some fish

I want that hongsloi

I know... £2.50 and he's a 5min walk from my house... And he has pandas, which judging by his other fish will be absolutely stunning....

Curse you wills... I would be using stronger language but this is a family forum and we don't both need warnings in the same day! lol.

The only problem...and it is a bit of a problem. Is that they would be full siblings and I'd rather get the male seperately for if/when they bred.

Sent him a message asking how he kept his hongsloi before they bred. Ie. pair or harem. Also sent one asking when the pandas will be ready and how much they'll be.

If possible I'd definitely rather keep a pair, easier to net and so long as the female is ok then I'm happy to watch the dynamics of just a pair.

This is looking more and more like it's actually going to happen. lol.

He got back to me...super fast... didn't expect that lol.
Hongsloi's £2 each!!!! And can be kept as a pair, this is how he kept his.

Pandas £2.50, still small and just waiting on how he keeps these... if he has kept these regularly as just pairs then I think I may have found the fish for me...literally.

Sounds good :good:
Pandas should be fine in pairs as they are one of the most peaceful types of apisto.

Hmm, you know I mentioned earlier about fate n all that... lol. Me thinks I will be an apisto keeper very very soon. I'm gonna check to see how small they are. If they're particularly small then I may get a pair to grow on in the aqua 40 until I get them a permenant home.

They only get about 5cm max. i really like apisto i know there only small but there great little fish.

No I mean I'm going to check how small they are at the mo. If they're only like 2cm then they can stay in the 28l for a couple of weeks n it shouldn't be a problem.

Oooo sounds interesting :D Looks like my fiendish scheme has come to fruition :hey:

I didnt realise which tank it was just looking at the literage really but yeah a 14x14 base is a bit squeezy for a pair just a bit worried about the female hiding from the male if he gets in a strop..

It's 42cm x 38cm but does actually have more floor space than the 18" x 10" I saw. I would feel comfortable with them in an 18" x 12" floor space with the theory that I've got the shrimp tank if necessary to split anyone up if they are acting at all stressed/aggressive to eachother. Eitherways they will end up with a tank they're comfortable in, if that means upgrading from whatever I choose first then so be it.

Now it's just a case of how the hell do I chose! My bf says hongsloi... I say pandas, but do like the hongslois....

And then when do I buy them... I'd like to wait till I've got the tank but at the same time I have all the equipment to temporarily house them and £2 for hongsloi and 2.50 for pandas of that quality is madness!

As youngsters I imagine either will be fine in the 5g for a month or so till you get their permanent tank sorted.

Well I think I've pretty much convinced myself that I'm getting a pair at some point this weekend.

But how do I choose... they're both so pretty! And sadly ANOTHER tank isn't an option. lol.

If your just going for a pair.... actually that dsnt help I just changed my mind in a second. Hongsloi stunning male not sure of females but I think they are similar to males but a bit duller where as with the Pandas they are totally different and both look amazing - I think for me its the Pandas I saw some males for the first time a while back and they were just breathtaking with their metalic sheen.

I mean you could take the hippy fish keeper approach (like me) and go to the shop and see which fish chooses you  you will know which you want when you see them :)

Lol, well I found THE perfect tank... now all I need to do is either come into some un expected money or happen upon one (or one of similar dimensions) for sale in classifieds.

Elite style 35... 50cm x 25cm x 30cm

Like you said though, the pandas are 2/3cm atm so can go in the Aqua40 temporarily, and so can the hongsloi but I'd keep a closer eye on them to be ready to seperate if neccesary.

I don't think I'll be able to choose between them till I see them in the tanks at the guys house. All I'm thinking is if the hongslois are anything to go by the the pandas will be stunning. And they're F1's from wild stock.
