Finding It Very Hard Not To Buy Fish Again...

Nope, nothing but feature fish. Bear in mind I have to catch, bag and transport these guys twice a year. I may really want fish...but I'm definitely not getting more than the bare minimum to give me something interesting to look at.
It'll either be a trio or pair of some sort of dwarf cichlid by the looks of things :)

And yes I see they have checkerboards in... and Nannacara anomala 8cm fully grown though :(

I really like the apistogramma nijsseni, especially as there would be 2 females and they're prettier than the males. Bit expensive though :hyper: , I work that out at about £5 an inch lol.

Taenicara candidi look like an interesting species to breed

pandas are realy nice... I can't really think of anything but dwarf cichlids :p

They're really sweet PDSimon, not sure I'd feel comfortable with them in a 40l though :/ would have to look into that a bit more.

With the tank what did you want just a plain glass one? There are quite a few fish houses closing down on aquarist classified at the moment you might be able to pick one up for cheap? Just use a thin layer of play sand for the substrate and plants on wood and rock so you can take it apart and carry around easily :)

And yes some of my comments have been deleted I am now on report like a child at school as well :) fun fun times for me who posts 10-12 useful posts per day ah well looks like Im off to find an other forum!

Seems odd Wills, do you have some sort of evil side, I've never noticed you say anything out of the ordinary! Would be a shame for you not to post, you're always very helpful.

It's not as if the forum you linked to is even in direct competition... seems an over reaction to me.

Don't go wills... at least not till you see my new tank come together :D

Your plan btw (thin layer of playsand, lots of mossy branches and a couple of caves) was also my idea for the tank :) I'll have a look on AC as I am only after a basic glass tank. I prefer to make what's inside of it look good...don't care too much about the outside.

I imagine I will be staying but if I end up being banned for linking something I shant be coming back.

With the tank yeah I prefer the simple ones, with a shallow hood as well but they are hard to find at the moment I want a big big tank but the levels of simplicity that I want and need to please my girlfriend are just proving impossible to find. But yeah if you can pluck a nice plain glass tank and add a cheap luminaire to it that would be cool :)

Sounds good to me. I would go for a pair of rams over the gouramis. Or a pair of apisto would work if the tanks 10G+
What happend wills. Hope you dont get banned your always a great help :good:

What do you think to an 18" x 10" x 10"? It's a basic tank, no lid or anything but I think the guy just wants rid so it looks like a good cheap buy to me. All I need is a clip on light and condensation tray...as I have everything else.

Bit small IMO really if your after an 18 inch tank I would go for an 18x15x15 ideally or a 18x12x15 maybe?

Bit small in what sense though... it gives them 11 x their length lengthways and just over 6 x their length width ways...

I'm not saying I completely disagree, I'm just wondering...
There isn't any point in me going larger than 40l tbh and an 18 x 15 x 15 is 66l....bigger than my shrimp tank. Also if I do go for apistos they're primarily bottom dwellers so I can't see how any extra height would be specifically beneficial?

I personally wouldnt keep apisto in anything less than 18X12 but i think 24X12 would be alot better.

Yeah its not just their swimming needs its the territory needs but fair point about the height so perhaps try and get a 18x15x10 or a 18x12x12 or something around that - its mainly for apisto females as their nests are sometimes quite big so if you can give them a bit more width it might make it easier for the trio to coexist.

Fair enough, if I were buying brand new I wouldnt even question it. It's jus cause I saw that tank n it just happened to be about right.
