Well, I finally got some pictures posted, they aren't the best, seems like the fish try and hide when they see me coming w/ the camera and not food. Anyway here they are.

1. Initial setup of 55 gal, stock list is 1 JD, 1 Oscar, 1 Bristlenose Plec, 1 Rubbernose Plec.

2. Rearranged, and removed JD because of bullying the Oscar, added 6 convict grow outs, Still have plecs.

And Tank inhabitants

1st up caught some of the cons hanging out.

And finally, the Oscar, saw him in the LFS he was completely white, after taking him, and getting him some proper care, the colors are starting to kick in. I'll try and get some better pics eventually.

Thats sweet, I like that sand it looks more fine than the kind I have. What kind of filters are you running? I have 2 emperor 400s but I only use one because i didnt know what kind of crazy water currents they would make. How do yours work out and what kind are they?

Very cool oscar. I like the spots on his pectoral fins

I would suggest a tank upgrade you can not keep a jd, oscar, convicts, and 2 plecs in a 55g long term the oscar will grow 12" in the 1st year. all that can stay in there long term is the jd and plec.

Don't ever worry about currents unless you have a decorative species of fish such as beta's or fancy goldfish with big fins as all fish love water current and I find that it helps keep the water oxygenated and the fish can sort of hover and swim against the current.

Mark is def right, the o will not work long term in the 55. If you can, get the jd back and keep a plec and maybe one con (the jd may accept it after awhile and it should be ok for almost the whole life of both fish

Its just 2 Wal-Mart branded 55 gallons filters... So I guess its like I got 110 gallons worth or filtration, All that is still a little over my head. Sorry. The sand is African Cichlid Mix Aquarium Gravel "Congo River" by Carib Sea Inc. 20 lbs. And Super Naturals Aquarium Gravel "Moonlight Sand" by Carib Sea Inc. 40 lbs.

I was originally going to go w/ Africans, but changed at the last second. I got alotta Mopani Wood in there to kinda counteract the Cichlid Mix gravel.

I no longer have the JD in that tank. I plan on removing 4 of the cons, but the more I think about it, I may take out 5, and just add a firemouth.

I know that I need to upgrade, my only concern is if I wait to long then it will be hard to find tankmates compatible w/ the 10" Oscar. Also, I figured it be easier for them grow together than introduce them to new fish later. But I have my eyes on something 90 -125 gallons.
