does anyone have any exspeience with these? are they any good? thoughts? opinions?

i was curious if anyone had used anything like this as well?

i have a pump and some tubing that isnt being put to use and if it ment i could add more filtration to the water and have more space for bacteria to grow then i would invest in these. what do you think?

You only need enough bacteria to break down the current load in the tank. By having more filtration area you won't increase the amount of bacteria. You will only provide more space for it to live should it require it.
The one from Dr Foster&Smith is just a round sponge filter. they are good for fry tanks but being air operated don't filter the water that quickly. There are plenty of different designs based on the same model.
If you have a powerfilter then stay with that. If you are looking at breeding fish in the future then maybe get one and keep it in your main tank. When you have fry you can simply move the filter into the fry tank and have instant filtration.
The first link didn't have anything.

The link you just posted is one of the many different cannister models available. Great filters for tanks 55gal or larger. They are enclosed filters and rest below your tank, with the intake and outtake hoses running up the back or side and into your tank. Capable of holding far more biological and mechanical material than a power filter, and unless your tank is massively overstocked, usually only have to be cleaned every 3-6 months. :good:

My apologies, I certainly didn't mean to speak down to you. I was just going off the title of this topic and wasn't aware you had experience with cannister filters.

As to the particular one you linked, I've never heard of the brand. I can tell you that IME both Fluval and Eheim are good brands.

no worries, yea i know they are but these are alot cheaper, but as i recall you get what you pay for most of the time.... im still in debates as to weither or not i want to give it a shot of not... if i do (which i am leaning towards no) then ill post about it so thers are aware because i really dont think i have ever heard of this brand nor have i seen it in stores.
