Hi i am just setting up a 180 litre tank and it came with a fluval 4 plus internal filter but this doesn't seem to be working very well as particles in the water just float past the intakes. I need to get a new filter so was wondering what was a good but resonabley priced filter for this size of tank.

go for 2nd hand external. i am sure you coud find one cheep.

internal filter is no good for 180l tank. its just wrong.

i love eheim.. i got two big ones. they r the best around.

Rena, fluval, aqua one, those are good stuff.



go for big as possible.

try e-bay. u wont go empty handed..

If you do want an internal filter, go for the aquaball, they also have an extension kit to allow you to add more sponge, greatest internal filter I have used.

something like a Eheim pro three. maybe a Tetra EX2400. you need to be looking at filter/s with a "box" flow claim of, around, 18000-2000lph.
