Fighters & Guppies

hiya all

i just got offered a lovely young fighter off my mate for nothing,

well he got the fighter with guppies and they all ok.

but as my guppies are still pretty small about a inch or just over will the fighter be ok with them,

he will be in a big enough tank, 128L with just 20 guppies and 4 corys

It might be OK but you won't know until he kills one of them . . .

If you want it to work make sure the tank is very, very heavily planted. That way, the fighter will be more settled and the guppies will have places to hide.

cheers mate, well its ota few plants in there but ill have a look 2moz and see were to add more. there is also bog wood that got under shoots for them to go. also sunken chect, boat. but ty and add a few extra plants at rear, if he kills any i will have to get him in a new tank

I just want to add, when you add him don't freak out if he starts chasing the guppies at first. Bettas are predators and seem to be very attracted to movement. I added my male into a tank with an under one inch female guppy and he chased her a lot at first. He could never catch her though and after a few days he eats right along side of her.

However if he does start catching their tails or seems to be just ceaseless about catching them I would seperate him.

Guppies and fighters are a no no, the fighter will chase and probably kill the guppies due to their long and ornate/colourful fins, the betta/fighter would see the guppies as other male fighters. Im only repeating what others have said alot on here so dont shoot me lol
