External Filter Noise?

can anyone please tell me if external filters give off much noise or not? im thinking of geting one for my 60liter tank but just wanted to know this first.

No there usually very quite, some humm a little, depends which one you go for

Well you could try the fluval 205, or tetratec 600 external, or eheim around 2213...Personal for me the fluval

I'm the opposite. I have a 205 and 305... both are noisy. Also run 3 TetraTEC EX1200 and they make no noise what so ever.

I would say a TetraTEC EX400 or EX600 due to build quality and the sheer volume of media inside that is supplied from new... unlike Fluval which tend to skimp on it a bit.

i have bin thinking about the tatratec ex600, think il get that one, i need it to be somewhat quiet because my tank is in my room, thanks for everyones advice

I've got a Marina S15 that came with my tank. After wedging a small sponge between the filter and the outside of my tank, it's now quiet enough for me to have a foot away from my bed.

If you listen for it you can usually hear it, but most of time you don't even notice it.

Tis trus, Fluval are a bit stingy when it comes to giving you media to get started. You need to almost double the media they provide.

My external whirrs a little (cant remember what make this one is) but inside the tank cupboard, you cant hear it over the TV. The water coming out of my spraybar is louder

Yep. My 305 was second hand, but the media had to be nearly doubled! its a good filter though, the flow is excellent. Just noisy. Customer services are rubbish too!
