Eheim 2213 External Filter

Hi i want to know if anyone has used an Eheim 2213 external filter and if so is it any good.....i know a fluval one is better but on a tight budget!!

There are many who would argue that Eheim is better than than Fluval and also that Tetratech is better than Fluval.

I'm sure there are also many who have experienced good and bad with all three manufacturers.

Have you looked to see the relevant costs of filters between the manufacturers? Ease of cleaning and ease of priming prior to turning the filter on?

I have a tetratech copy and the priming button is brilliant. Very easy to remove the air in the pipes before power on and after a filter clean.

my 2213 is great, its quiet and easy to use once you know how. i tried setting it up without reading the instructions propely, not a good idea. cost me about 70 quid with all media, piping and 2 sets of taps from charterhouse aquatics.

as has been pointed out. Fluval are the poor relative in filters, not Eheim.

the 2213 is an excellent filter. true its a bit fiddly, both to set up add clean. but nothing really good is ever simple.
though i wouldn't use it on tanks bigger than 25-39ukg. and the type of media is vital for performance.

this filter will still be working in 20 years (given reasonable care)

I have the 2215 and it's GREAT! I'd recommend the optional spray bar and intake assemblies though - I didn't care for the ones that came with it. Mine also came with all of the media - ceramic noodles, course sponge, substrat pro, and fine filter pad.
