Eel Id, Pic Included

so, I found some pretty interesting eels at a good LFS today. 12 a piece. I onyl got one, to see if it'd fit in with the stripped peacocks. Of course I made sure it's not a fire or tyre track eel.

But is this a "flame" eel, hence the red/orange glow in the tail? I don't believe I've ever seen these patterns.

edit: looking at the body, he has spikes all along the top...

Correct - had several myself back in the day....

And all spiny eels have "spikes" on the back
