hiya i have been keeping dwarf rusian hamsters since may and one of my babies a little fawn and white banded albino hamster has slight balding patch underneath its body main on its leg.

I have check that the wheel isn't rubbing, does anyone else know what it could be? could i treat it at home as every time i go to vets i end up with a dead hamster.

It's alert and eating and active as normal.
Will the fur grow back?

if it looks irritated, you could try putting an antibacterial or neosporin cream on it. that may work, but if it doesn't seem to bothered, it could be just like if one of us scraped our knees.

Thanks nino for your reply, hamster doesn't seem to be bothered by it, i was just concerned about her. Shes only a baby about 4 months and lives with 2 other females. I don't see her scratch excessively.

Could she have an allergy to sawdust maybe?

maybe hamster was playin a little roughly with the other hamster and got a little scratch (if they r in the same cage), io think the fur will grow back but im not positive
