$13.59 on SALE! What's that saying about a fool and his money?

There will always be a market for that stuff. I saw a vid a while back from a chain store in the US selling betta water..

There is an old saying,
"A fool and his money are soon parted." (A fool and her money are soon parted. Also.)

So you have a small 25 gallon tank. To fill it it with the above would cost you $140. Then, being a decent fish keeper, you change 50% of the water every week costing you $70. And at the end of a year you would have spent $3,640. And if you live in NY as I do there would be over another $300.

So maybe you have gravel and decor taking up 20% of the tank, lucky you. The numbers change to $112 for the first fill and $2,812 for the water changes.

In searching it looks like the price for the water is more like $5 for 2.5 gallons. that would reduce the cosys above by 71$, But I have no clue on shipping costs. 2.6 gallons weights a bit over 20 pounds.

So to fill a 25 gal would spend $50 and the weekly water change would be $25 a week or $1,300/year. With 20% decor the numbers drop to $40 to fill, $20/week for water changes and $1,040/year. Now that is a real bargain if your last name is Musk or Gates......

"Allows for immediate introduction of fish." So much for cycling.

Cycling is the filter they sell you, attached to a stationary bicycle!

The local US based chain sells Betta water, in small bottles. It's ideal for Bettas kept in in shot glasses. Plus the included, bonus micro-plastics fortify the fish.

What can you do? Really what they need is water passed by experienced aquarists. We could all have steady side jobs.

Con o sin gas?

They are not fooling anybody.

We all know that if you want to cycle faster all you need to do is to pedal harder. :p :fun::hyper::eek:

As long as dumb/uneducated ppl exists there will be a market for anything

looked it up… does not disclose the source, from what I can see on line… spring water, filtered water, RO water, magically farted on water???

They've been selling what are basically homeopathic treatments as meds for years now, so why wouldn't crooks sell dechlorinated water? This plays on anxiety and worry about mistreating new fish - rather than just blaming the buyers, who are being duped, there are serious questions about the ethics of the sellers.

You can make money doing a lot of things that you shouldn't, and the stores that sell these things shouldn't have customers.

As long as dumb/uneducated ppl exists there will be a market for anything

We can add to that - as long as there are lowlife sellers, there will be unethical products on the market.

Sure are a lot of suckers in this world. This product has over 1000 mostly positive reviews. OUCH!

If a mom just bought her kid a betta fish with a small tank that says it is made for betta fish, that would be an attractive option. Mom would have no idea that the statements on the water jug and possibly on the tank for the betta are total BS. It's irresponsible marketing for folks new to the hobby who don't know any better or some parent just trying to give Billy a nice surprise.

read all the 1 star reviews for the API Betta water in my link in previous post...downright scary and sad
