in my tetra tank, I have a long time cardinal tetra, and an other long time rummy nose… both fish were parts of groups of originally around a dozen, and over several years, they are the only ones left from their original groups, and have been so, for around a year… I had an angel fish that was hard on the cardinals, so maybe it’s “emotionally scared”, but after many years I lost that angel, and recently I added a dozen new cardinals ( because I love them ) there was no aggression seen between them, when they were added to the tank, and my loner was interested, but now a couple weeks after being added to the tank, the loner is not part of the group, in fact they are almost always on opposite sides of the tank… I don’t know if the significant age difference makes that much difference or why they stay apart ( the loner is quite large for a cardinal, so I can tell that one apart from the rest of the group )
I now have another group of a dozen rummy noses coming next week it’ll be curious if that fish also chooses to stay solo???
