i over stocked one of my tanks but i didnt realise it
(stupid fish shop staff) had six melon barbs in a 60 litre they were v young but would have got to 15 cm w t f ??
i took em back... but my tank is still slightly overstocked i supose it doesnt matter because my new one will be cycled soon so i can split the load across two lol

anyone else have overstocked tanks?

You can slightly overstock sometimes if you have two filters running.
I understock now less work lol.

yh i was sold to go into a 54l tank 2 leopard plecos that grow to 45cm (i was told 8) and a featherfin catfish that would os grown over 10 inches (i was told 8 cm) i took em bk though when they gt bigger than what i was told and found out how big they would grow

I'm guilty of overstocking and need to have a good rejig of my tanks and maybe make a couple of decisions stock wise

Last year I got an extra three tanks and now have 7 but that makes things harder cos you see more fish that you want!!!

I do but have a ridiculous amount of filtration on the tank.

thanks
fish shop staff usualy hock crap at you so you buy a larger fish

but i sometime find the urge to buy more than the urge not to clean more compelling

as soon as my 110 litre get se up i will split my fish up

rediculous filtration doesnt make it any better, you still get more nitrates so more water changes are necessary.

i under stock my tanks so the little amount of unreadable ammonia is kept as low as possible to inhibit algae growth

good for you truck

i cant say this however cause i suffer from wantingmorefishwithnospaceforthemsyndrome it has wierd side affects like dissapearing money for useless things

but i do a water change evry 3 days

yea i have overstocked both my tanks on more than one occasion, however i have learnt from my mistakes and am just trying to keep a few nice fish well- thats not going too well either tho lol :)

i am going to, just getting enough dosh to get the tank, it will be set up in about 3 weeks so i will get the puffer in about 2 months last week, i will be posting pics when i am setting it up- cant wait :fun:

i didnt say i dont do water changes! and my plants help a LOT! not saying it's an undertaking EVERYONE should do. dont know why i bother posting sometimes...people are way too sensitive!

did i accuse you of not doing water changes?! this is a forum, where people express opinions, etc

some people may see your post and see it as an okay thing to do, which in general it isnt.
