Thank you everyone for your input. It was just a curiosity thing on my part, after being told that I "should." I was curious how many others out there did what apparently we "should" do. Nice to know that I am not the only risktaker

I never wear gloves, I don't think that any harm could come from not wearing gloves, and there shouldn't be any bad things in my tank if I do my regular 40 to 50% water changes

It was said in another post that for our safety, gloves should be worn. I have never worn gloves, as I feel it exposes the fish to something I may not be able to control. I can control for the most part what is on my hands. So I thought I would see what everyone else thinks

But really, how many documented cases of fish TB are there? And if you have a fish with possible TB, wouldn't you notice?

I don't wear gloves. I don't see much harm of not in my fw tanks... Just wash before and after. Nothing has happened yet and I'm still perfectly healthy
I don't see much need because unless you're going to go buy some special gloves I don't think it's necessary because rubber wouldn't protect you from any larger fish that may bite you and would possibly also harm the fish. Plus I like my little fishy kisses lol.

Haha mee too, I left the heater on and put it on my dresser, then I went to the balcony. When I came back, it burned a small hole trough my dresser... Crazy!

I don't wear gloves ether, I am not really afraid of bacteria, because it's a part of my job
I do wash my hands with antibacterial soap afterwards.

If I had a large cut or scratch on my hand I'd consider a waterproof dressing in it, but I certainly wouldn't wear gloves. I've had the odd mouthful of tank water and it hasn't killed me yet, I'm not worried about my hands!

To answer a question that was asked earlier, you don't have to actually have a sick fish to have many kinds of harmful bacteria in your tank. They're in there after having been introduced by apparently healthy looking fish. Remember, a fish can be in an environment with harmful bacteria but not be affected unless/until their immune system is weakened by poor conditions in the tank or by other stresses. Bacteria do not show up on your routine water tests but they are there nevertheless.

Still, I doubt that I could stand to wear rubber gloves while I clean my tanks. I'd take a chance like I always do.
