I have a bucket below my "split unit" aircon outside to catch up the water dripping from it cause in my opinion, this should be very low pH water and almost distilled to use as "fill up" water replacing evaporated water.... (note,.... not for water change) i.e. when the water evaporates, the chemicals stay behind and simply adding tap water will escalate the chemical levels....

I'd advise against using that Ludwig. Aircon units can remove any air-borne polutants and pathogens. These will end up in the water you are collecting from your unit ATM, and may pose a risk to your tanks. I would guess that levels may be low, but without testing them, how can you be shure? Also, long-term low level exposure to most poisonous chemicals can be as bad as acute exposure... :/

If you must use it, treat is like rain water. Carbon filter, and UV steralise it to remove and potential nasties, but IMHO the faffing isn't worth it

Run a quick search, and you will likely find many a thread about this, mostly with members advising against it, for the reasons above :good:

Lots of copper & aluminum in those coils, not something you want to put in an aquarium. Since it is water without disinfectants (chlorine/chloramine) it grows bacteria & fungus really nicely. As suggested, treating like rain water with suitable filtration for making it potable would be needed.

The condensation from the unit if its a closed circuit gas filled unit should just be condensation only but as said is it really worth the risk?
