Crystal Red Shrimp - Grade A

(posted over in the for sale section 2, but know a lot of you don't venture out of this section!)

Not for sale by me - but thought it might be of interest to those on the look out. Because they don't seem to be readily available here in the UK - and certainly not often at grade A (see this for grading). Wholesale Tropicals in London have some gorgeous ones in at the moment for £6.50 each. Yep, not cheap, but they are beautiful and good quality (no, I don't get any commission for spreading the word !! lol).
(Oh, I think they have some black ones too - but in a different tank)

I'm very tempted to set up a new little planted tank again just for them and some microrasbora - of which they have on special offer at the moment too @ £30 for 10

Thanks for the heads up Bloo thats a reasonable price for grade A CRS. Do you know which microrasbora it is?

Hmmm... Do they ship them, or do you have to go there to collect them?

£6.50 seems a lot cheaper when you realise that the high grade (SS) ones sell for hundreds!

They do post though and I think postage is fairly expensive as they use a special fish courier which is approx £15.
However that said, I personally wouldn't chance it to have posted shrimp. It's been very hit and miss for me in the past. And £6.50 per shrimp isn't cheap.

BTW a recent post on the PFK website, said that the galaxy rasbora habitat is already under threat due to over capture of the species. Only best to buy these if you can breed them and sell them back to the LFS so take the pressure off the wild stocks.

Good point. Bit of an expensive gamble. Maybe I'll try and get them locally instead...
