So should someone who already had covid get the vaccine?
If you are in the UK you will be invited for a vaccine even if you have had Covid 19. There is not enough data to know the level and duration of protection people could have from natural immunity.

Yes they should get the vaccine. From large scale antibody testing immunity from a first episode probably lasts 3 or 4 months. The vaccine boosts your immune system and increases your chance of creating memory cells. Regardless of.wherenyou live in the world your health authority will reccomend this

It's likely we will need ingoing boosters for coronavirus

I saw a video a doctor made explaining why you shouldn't get the vaccine if you had covid.

Yesterday (Monday 19 April 2021), Australia and New Zealand opened a travel bubble between the two countries. Basically people could fly to either country and not have to quarantine for two weeks before going out in public. They can simply fly to the other country and interact with the mainstream society. I thought this was a dumb idea and sent emails to the government telling them that.

Today (Tuesday 20 April 2021) on the news, New Zealand has a new case from a front line worker.

The worker that has tested positive to covid19 today, was fully vaccinated and received their second dose a month or so ago. I'm not sure which vaccine they got. But it appears that the vaccine they got, does not prevent them catching covid19.

Currently (right now) the federal health officials are facing a senate committer over the roll out of the vaccine. The politicians are refusing to provide written/ document information claiming it is official political paperwork or something and are upsetting the Judge in charge of the committee. The judge is giving the pollies a hard time because they have gone through this before and keep giving the same bs answers.

It appears the Australian federal government is hiding something.

It's not just the federal government hiding things. The Western Australian state government has been caught out lying to the public.

We have 2 new cases in WA and both came from a quarantine hotel. The state government told everyone they were people coming into Australia from known hot spots. It turns out the people where on holiday in Australia and had been here for a while. They were staying on the 6th floor of a quarantine hotel but were not in quarantine because they had been through that some time ago. They caught the virus somehow from people that were in quarantine on different floors. The two people who have tested positive to covid19, were in different rooms and are unrelated to each other.

Western Australia is in lock down again because the 2 people that have covid19 were released from quarantine and have travelled all over Perth and infected potentially 10,000+ people. One of the people left Perth today and took a flight to Victoria and has probably infected 200+ people on the plane.

The state government is enforcing the lockdown from midnight tonight. However, thousands of people have left Perth and gone north and south for the long weekend and they might have taken the virus with them.

The state government was told to stop using the Mercure Hotel for quarantine purposes well before this started but didn't. Now Western Australia could have a massive outbreak on its hand. Stupid stupid government.

And the Federal government is still umming and ahhing over when we can get vaccinated, but it's looking like the end of this year and next year if the government does a mass vaccination program. If they don't do the mass vaccination program, then I won't be vaccinated for at least 4 years..

So Indian Drs are short on oxygen, I don't understand why given how easy it is to make.
It's all to do with the way piped oxygen is supplied. Yes, oxygen is in the air but to get it at the concentrations and flow rates needed an industrial process needed. You can use machines called oxygen concentrators but these don't work beyond about 6l/min flow rates. Most ventilators need 40-50l/min flow rate just to produce pressure and keep lungs inflated etc.

Hospitals have things called vacuum insulated evaporators (VIEs) - sort of a giant thermos flask containing liquid oxygen where oxygen is evaporated and drawn off depending on demand.

If the overall flow rate exceeds capacity pressure drops. Also, when flow rates are high the pipes get very cold and can freeze (there's actually an emergency protocol around sending someone with a hosepipe to keep it defrosted)

Gas dynamics a lot like electricity- imagine you've wired a lot of light bulbs in series. Eventually they will be dimmer as the current passing through through is reduced by the increased resistance.

In oxygen, if you normally have 50 patients on say 5l oxygen, but now your hospital has 200 patients on 15l then the same will happen - the draw is faster than the VIE can cope with and the pressure also drops as lots of demand.

So even if the VIE is full, oxygen can drop.

Now add infrastructure failure and the people who should deliver the liquid oxygen to top the VIE uo being sick and supply chain issues.

It's terrifying, tragic and incredibly sad. I'm not sure all the packed teat matches were worth it :(

The vaccine doesn’t prevent covid in 100% of the people who receive it. But studies have showed the numbers to be pretty good (about 95% will not get symptomatic covid after receiving the vaccine for Pfizer and Moderna). However there will be those 5% that the vaccine simply doesn’t work for. And perhaps more if you count carriers that never had any symptoms so their subsequent infection was not detected. Vaccination does not mean there is no chance you will get it or pass it on to others. Only a much lower likelihood of it.

Next wednesday, a number of measures by the goverment are being waived. The health care organizations want to stop the goverment from doing that. For it might get us to code black. Wave 3 hasn't even reached its max yet.
