im sure i have also read that their bulb life is measured with a 50% drop in output before they are considered dead. So your going to have to replace them before they say so.
Ive added a halide ot my LED's as i dont think they would have cut it with sps or nems if i ever go down that route. Halides can aslo be had for less than 50% of their retail used. So there are fantastic bargains about
 
May I suggest you look for a thread I opened on Aqua rays; some interesting discussion in there. I recently found out a posible flaw with I wrote about as the last entry. Also remember while it is true that LED can compare to halides they are spot lights essentially which means you need one at every spot in the tank. I recently was looking in to them and found little short of buying a solaris (which for a 36" unit I think retails at £2000-2500) halides are abest ighting we have.
