how do people clean the filter pipes? ive managed to find something to clean my spraybar which is 3ft but thats only becuase it comes in pieces but how do i clean the pipes leading for the external filter to the tank?

theyre about 3ft in length each and there is a bit of build up in them also.

thread a length of wire down the pipe, tie a pipe cleaning brush to the end and pull it back through.

I used some 2.5mm electrical wire and taped a tooth brush to the end, then fed that in and just brushed the innards of the pipe clean :)

I purchased JBL Cleany which is a long piece of wire with brushes on each end. Perfect for cleaning filter pipes.

The normal RRP is about £7-£8 but I got them at my LFS in the sale for £4 so was well chuffed.

i have the Hagen variant of this brush.
it works well.
but i still use string with a small rag tired to one end and some plant lead on the other.
and i discard it after every use. (keep the lead though)

I doubt the cost, over 6 years, has reached 30p yet!
