Is it possiable to keep Cichlids with other tropical fish ? or not? I wanted to keep Cichlids as i like to see them grow big but I don't just want to have a plain Cichlid tank so i was just wondering if there is any risk of keeping them with other tropical fish.

It depends what kind of cichlids you're thinking of.

There are hundreds of wildly differing species, from peaceful, acid loving two inchers (rams, apistogrammas) to very huge, aggressive, hard water types (mbuna, jaguars).

As Ashley said, some cichlids are fine with other fish, assuming you have the tank space for it. You'd need to do research on the specific ones you wanted to keep. Some are completely peaceful, whereas others can't even get along with each other, let alone other fish.

what type of Cichlids are fine with other fish? because I remember a while back my uncle had given me a few Cichlids that he had and they were fine with my other tropical fish. Now I cant remember the name of them.

Cichlids are generally split into two groups, old and new world - old world is African, new world in American. More of the American Cichlids are generally ok in some community tanks.

What size is your tank and what other fish do you have / want?

my fish tank is about 3ft and I'm not to sure what other tropical fish i will get yet i am just sure that I want Cichlids in my tank. And i know for sure I will have a sucker fish I love them lol.

How hard is your local water, Rooted?

Ok 3 foot gives you a few options but you are generally looking at the smaller end of the size range. Any of the Dwarfs would be great like Bolivian Rams, Apistogrammas, Cockatoos and Panduro are nice :) - or you could go a little larger with something like Rainbow Cichlids, or Kribensis.

There are a few more options but have a look at them.

When you say sucker fish which do you mean? Common Plecs or like a Chinese Algae Eater?

the sucker fish would probably be the Chinese Algae Eater as the common plecs grow pretty big right?

would it be safe to mix the Panduros and Dwarfs together ?

If the tank is 3-foot and not less, you cold possibly do a mini "African rapids" tank...

1 pair Steatocranus spp. (Blockhead/Lionhead Cichlid, there are at least 6 different classified species, I have casuarius and tinanti)
1 Synodontis brichardi (matches your "sucker fish" requirement)
8-10 African Tetra (not Phenacogrammus itterumptus "Congo Tetra" as far too big in < 4-foot, but Alestopetersius caudalis "Yellow Tail Congo Tetra" [with more females than males] or similar ~5cm)

23-26C; 8-15x true water turnover per hour with lots of surface rippling; numerous bogwood tunnels/caves; various Anubias species tied to bogwood

From what I remember, a Panduro is a dwarf. Apistogramma Hongsloi are one of my favourite dwarf cichlids, along with Electric Blue rams.
