Checking Sex Of My Blue Acara

my female acara's fins are just as extended as my male, that bump in front of the anal fin is the egg tube, if its pointy its a boy, if its not pointy its a girl. and from the photos my opinion is that its female.

i thibk the same also joller. plus folks ignore colours in pic 2 and 3 they were with flash which makes his blues look green etc go by pic 1 .

DEFFO blue acara

Well if mine does turn out to be a GT (unlikely I think, though), it must be the most docile GT ever....

The one at the top of the page (Marks).

Like i said before true Blue Acaras "Aquedins Pulcher" have a silver line on there fins, Latifrons and a few other species have gold line on there fins.

Aequedins Sp. "Gold Saum" (what you guys are calling Green Terrors) have gold edging to both there top fin and tail fin, green body and a longer/larger face.

Aequedins Rivulatus and Aeuquedins Sp. "Silver Saums" (The Green Terror) look completely different all together.

Edit: just noticed GrumpyGouramis juvi, that is a Aequedins Sp. "Gold Saum" same as your minxy just a small specimen.

Hate to say it GrumpyGrourami but you got a Monster on your hands!!!! a gawjus monster to,however you might wanna start making plans for it.

Grumpygourami, can you get a recent pic up please, because I have to agree it does look a young GT, so an update will confirm. Glenbo they are not all monsters, some can be pretty placid, they all have different temprements :)

Marks is definately not a GT, its an acara, wild caught as well I believe.

I mean monsters as in big :p

Plus hes got it with Rams,Keyholes and Livebearers...that why I said make plans.

You know I love them Minxy :) lol

Oh I get ya  And yes if it really is, then a VERY close eye on it with those other fish is highly advised.

Look at its tail,Fin shape and Face...also the tear drop is behind the Eye on a Gold Saum....inline with the eye on a Acara.

That picture from Grumpy is definitely a Gold Saum.

And Marks is definitely one of the other Aequedins....not Pulcher but probably Latifrons, either way one of the peaceful smaller types.

Suspect Marks come from the same place mine came from - Wildwoods - and sold as wild caugh BA.

Will stick a post up when I get a minute, certainly looks fairly similar (if you ignore the colouration from flash.)
