I have checked only one pawn shop in the last year for anything fishy. All that I saw in the shop was electronics, jewelry, musical instruments and other similar high value items that would be easy to sell. My guess is they don't have much else because if people default on their loans they don't want to be stuck with something that is hard to sell.
