Changing My Filter

Ive been running an Interpet external power filter in my 250L tank for over a year now and ive never really been happy with its performance. Its forever reducing the flow for no apparent reason despite me keeping it clean and im forever having to fiddle with it to get the flow going. I think that the fact that Interpet now dont make it any more speaks volumes.....

So ive decided im going to change it and buy a new one. As they are very expenisve I would like some advice on whats the best to buy? I want one that actually performs and is easy to set up & maintain (I am in the UK.)

Secondly I would like some advice on changing over. If I take all the media (sponges and those ceramic hoops)out of my old filter and put them into the new one will it be fully cycled or will I experience any spikes?

there used to be a few members on here who seem to have dissapeared lately but had and rated these as good filters

oh yes chaging media over, if yours is sponge and will fit your new filter then this is good, i would split the media 50/50 between the two filters,,,,actually prob more 70/30 leaving more mature in the old and squeezing/soaking the sponges in old filter muck then adding all in new filter, run them along side for 1.5-2months...much better if you could run them alside perminantly :good:
