Centre Piece Fish

Hello

I didnt have much luck with responses last time i posted for stocking ideas but am looking for some help again.....

I now have the following in my tank and am looking for something as a centre piece.....

9 Neon Tetra
4 Mollies
3 Guppies
3 Platies
1 Queen of Arabesque Pleco

Gouramis: Honey, pearl, dwarf would be fine, possibly opaline gourami, tank would be about bare minimum for an opaline.

Pair of bolivian rams, I have a pair in my 125L
Trio of apistogramma, I have a trio of apistogramme cacatuoide double red in my 125L as well

How tall is the tank? If its at least 18" tall then angel fish may be an option although can be sometimes a bit dodgy with guppies.

Hi Andy,

I did try some gourami but they got quite nasty and killed one of my guppies so they went back to the lfs

I have been looking at Bolivian Rams and do quite like them. My lfs also have some electric blue rams acclimatising at the moment which are VERY nice! Do you know much about them?

EBRs are probably a bit too sensitive for most people to bother, I wouldn't myself. My girlfriend has a GBR had it for about a week no problems so far. Lovely personality and always comes to the front of the tank when you walk in the room. Although I would have preferred to have a Bolivian ram we ended up with a GBR.

GBR = German Blue Ram

haha soz forgot to say, have you looked into Laetacara curviceps

GBR's and EBR's are just different strains and generally have the same requirements, both are very sensitive fish needing at high temp, low ph and low nitrates.

The higher temp required (28-32 celcius) usually makes them not a very good community fish.

A pair of bolivian rams would work fine with all your fish as they are not as sensitive although do require low nitrates so weekly water changes would be a must. When settled they start to show their colours and they are stunning. I've recently planted my tank and since the colours of the bolivians are brighter than ever, they must feel more settled now their is plenty of places to hide although they never do hide, they are always up the front of the tank coming to see me when I go near lol.

Id say you were close but not quite fully stocked after a pair of bolivians.

What filter is on the tank?

I'd look at taking the neons to 12 and thinking of some other bottom feeder.

Thats what i thought.

Atm its only an interpet pf3 but hopefully getting an external when funds allow! About 1/3 water is changed every week and filter cleaned in tank water also.

Stats are all good too

i have both blue rams and bolivian rams and there both awesome all though the blue rams are more of a center piece fish i have kept my blue rams at 26c for the last 2 years with no problems at all

you could go for laetacara dorsigera (red breasted acara) similar to curviceps only with the red breast
