Cave Ideas

Ok so apart from slate caves which I don't like and resin caves which I don't like and coconut caves which I don't like what other ideas are there?

also resin caves don't look natural to me and those perfectly squared off bits of slate don't look natural or the round ones, just don't look like a natural habitat to me

How about getting a bunch of rocks that you do like the shape + colour of and then fashioning yourself a cave like structure from them. I don't know how stable it would be in the long run, so some silicone may be in order, but it's an idea. You could also create crevices to plant in with things such as anubias..?

Try ebay - search "aquariam cave" or "fish cave" or somthing like that - see what it comes up with

Don't look natural? Not every water way/course has caves.

Hairs can just be removed with some fine sand paper or a file, but ive never noticed them change the colour of the water?

if you want the natural look then wrap the bamboo cave in java moss or riccia.

Tree branch style/shape drift/bog wood can also be used to good effect.

Idea's for caves without using coconut shell or slate caves

Driftood or Mapani placed stratgically in my current tank

Stones stacked as a natural cave (best siliconed together)

I have some shale ( 9x6x.5 cm ) from a quarry that i could use if i wanted to make a ledge with some pebbles or paced in teh correct way looking more natural.

or im sure ive seen a piccy somewhere on here where someone covered a coconut cave with sand and pebbes using silicone and paced this into a sand substrate looked Very good if you can be bothered playing around with it
