Catfish..honestly

Right get u this morning to find my catfish which is about an ich or so long in my filter suckling away on a sponge. Its a tiny filter. The intake slits are so thin I don't see how it got in that way. So it jumped in via the top? What was it thinking and how can I stop it happening again! Cheers!

Fish do this all the time. I have to pull platy fry out of my filter every few weeks. They will fit through unbelieveably small gaps. Try covering the outside of the filter with mosquito netting, held down with rubber bands. That's the only way I can keep small fish out of my filters.
